Salisbury Wicomico Economic Development (SWED) is an organization
charged with promoting and bringing business to the Salisbury-Wicomico
area. This small organization faces competition from large counties
in the Baltimore/Washington area that spend millions on promoting
their areas for growth. With a budget the fraction of their competitors,
SWED saw the Internet as somewhat of an equalizer. If SWED could offer
an effective Web presence that highlighted the benefits of the region
they would be able to compete with their larger competitors. That's
where we came in.
I worked with a group that performed an analysis of SWED's Web site.
Through usability testing we were able to improve the site's information
architecture and usability. Recommendations were made on ways to improve
site traffic including search engine optimization and marketing suggestions.
We also gave recommendations on how to better utilize the Web to meet
organizational goals. www.swed.org
